Recording Proficiency Test Participation

ConCertainty allows you to store the results of your participation in proficiency tests. The recorded data is then available for measurement uncertainty determination.

A proficiency test is organized by an (usually external) organizer. The participating laboratories receive a sample with unknown or known content, perform the analysis, and submit their results. The organizer evaluates all submissions and provides each laboratory with an evaluation report. From this report, you take the values that you enter into ConCertainty.

Before you can record a proficiency test participation, at least one test profile must exist.

Proficiency Tests Overview

In the left menu, under Data Basis, open the Proficiency Tests section. The overview lists all recorded proficiency test participations. Using the search criteria, you can narrow the display by Organizer, Test Profile, and Date. Select Search to load the results, or Reset to clear the search criteria.

Recording a New Proficiency Test Participation

Select Create Proficiency Test Participation.

Step 1: Enter Basic Data

Fill in the basic data of the proficiency test participation:

  • Name of the proficiency test – e. g. the designation from the organizer's evaluation report. The name and identifier are generated automatically and can be adjusted before saving.
  • Date – the temporal classification of the proficiency test. Which date you use – e. g. the date of sampling or the date of evaluation – is up to your own determination.
  • Organizer – the organization that conducted the proficiency test. If the organizer does not yet exist, you can create it directly in the selection field.
  • Test profile – the test profile under which the analysis was performed. After selection, the associated parameters are loaded in the Parameter Measured Values section.
  • Sample ID – the identifier assigned by the organizer for the sample (optional)
  • Device – the analysis device used (optional). If the device does not yet exist, you can create it directly in the selection field.
  • Remarks – free text field for additional notes (optional)

Info

Once saved, the identifier is immutable. Further information on this can be found under Identifiers.

Step 2: Enter Parameter Measured Values

In the Parameter Measured Values section, all parameters of the selected test profile appear. Enter the corresponding values from the organizer's evaluation report for each parameter:

Field Meaning
ċ (own value) Your own measured value for this parameter
c_ass (consensus value) The consensus or target value determined by the organizer
s_R,i (reproducibility standard deviation) The reproducibility standard deviation specified by the organizer
n_p,i (participants) The number of participants who submitted values for this parameter

Step 3: Save the Proficiency Test Participation

Select Create to save the proficiency test participation. It will then appear in the proficiency tests overview.

Editing a Proficiency Test Participation

An existing proficiency test participation can be opened and edited via the overview. All fields – including the parameter measured values – can be changed subsequently. The identifier is immutable after the first save.
