Creating matrices and materials¶
Matrices and materials form the fundamental structuring of your samples in ConCertainty. A matrix describes the sample material as an overarching category – e.g. aluminum, water, or oil. The materials underneath describe the specific variants within this category, such as certain alloys, water types, or oil types.
You can find more on this under Data model: How the master data relates.
Creating a matrix¶
In the left-hand menu, under Master data, open the Matrices section and select Create matrix.
Enter a name – e.g. "Aluminum", "Water", or "Oil". The identifier is generated automatically and can be adjusted before saving. Optionally, you can add a description.
Warning
Once saved, the identifier is immutable. You can find more information on this under Identifiers.
Select Create to save the matrix.
Creating materials¶
Materials are maintained directly in the detail view of a matrix – not via a separate menu item.
Open the desired matrix via the Matrices overview. In the Materials section, you can see all materials already assigned. In the Add material input field, enter the name of the new material and confirm with +.
Examples of materials:
| Matrix | Materials |
|---|---|
| Aluminum | AlSi10MnMg, AlCu4MgSi |
| Steel | S355, S235 |
| Water | Drinking water, wastewater, service water |
| Oil | Hydraulic oil, lubricating oil |
Individual materials can be removed via the × symbol, provided they have not yet been assigned to a laboratory sample.
Editing a matrix¶
Directly editing the name and description of a matrix is currently not possible. The materials (in the detail view) and the status (via the switch in the overview) can be maintained.
Deactivating a matrix¶
Using the status switch in the overview, you can set a matrix to Inactive. Inactive matrices are no longer available for selection when creating new laboratory samples and test profiles.
